Semi-Final 2: Judd Trump 5-4 Neil Robertson
65-77 (Robertson 55), 14-68 (Robertson 31), 54-15 (Trump 32), 0-87 (Robertson 33), 60-58 (Robertson 30), 81-0 (Trump 37, 44), 56-29, 45-78 (Trump 30, Robertson 58), 71-16 (Trump 38).
Concluding at 1.25am, the second semi-final was another close–fought affair and this time it was Judd Trump who prevailed, beating Neil Robertson in a scrappy encounter at the Grimsby Auditorium. Despite not making a break over 50 in the match, Trump moves forward to face Stuart Bingham in Sunday night’s final.
At 3-1 down and needing a snooker in the fifth, things looked bleak for Trump but he stuck
with it and made it 3-2. He levelled in the next before the seventh frame which lasting just under 39 minutes, was epic in duration rather than quality with just 85 points scored in total!
Trump won it though and looked set for victory in the eighth frame before missing an easy pink to hand the opportunity to Robertson to take it to a decider which he did.
That was won by Trump who will need to improve a bit in the final if he is to claim his maiden Premier League title. Robertson departs the competition £26,500 the richer.
